Meet Winston

Ladies and gentlemen, meet my first ever dog of my own, Winston!

Winston is estimated to be about 6 years old, and was neutered today.  I got him from the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue in Dublin, and before that apparently he was a stray.  He has a skin irritation, which the vet gave him antibiotics for, and perhaps some minor displaysia in one of his back legs, but it's not a big deal.  He's adjusting well to life with me.  I couldn't ask for a better dog... SO well behaved!  The only time he's barked is at the cats.  But he doesn't mind them, he's more curious.  They certainly mind HIM, but they'll get used to him.  Everywhere we went today he was incredibly well behaved with the people and other dogs.  When I took him out earlier, some dogs in yards barked at him but he never barked back or showed any aggression.

After picking him up from the clinic in Pleasanton today, I took him down the way in the shopping center it's in to a pet food store and bought him some treats and his harness and leash, a fetching shade of purple, of course.  I intended to buy food, but since I intended to buy Iams since that's what I feed the cats and I trust the brand, I was out of luck since they carried lesser known brands.

From there we went to PetSmart where I got the bulk of his supplies - a cozy bed (softer than mine, shit lol), a kennel/crate, a collar for when he's not wearing the harness on walks, a poop bag thing to hang off the leash for walks, and a good food setup (with food of course).

I ordered him a cute hydrant shaped tag with his name and our contact info to go with his microchip tag and rabies tags that they said he should wear all the time.  We've already been on a walk around the block when we got home and out in the back yard and front yard a couple of times.  He did pee in the house once when we first got home, but it was in the doorway of the bathroom and he made it all onto the linoleum so at least it was easy to clean lol.  He's asleep on his bed beside my desk right now, but as soon as I head into the bedroom in a few, he'll be going into his kennel for the night.
